Title: which 1/8 truck
cocobware - December 28, 2009 04:20 PM (GMT)
hi all need some advice on what truck to buy to get back into r/c ing want to spend around the £300 mark was considering the thunder tiger mta4 as it seems a decent bundle for your buck but i find myself drawn to ansmanns hogzilla but cant seem to find much info on web about it what of these or any other would you recommend i would like it to have as much "tech spec" as poss reverse, second gear etc and a good variety of hop ups to upgrade through time
thanks in advance for any help

hi mate welcome to the site
Out of the 2 models youve said, i would 100% choose the mta4 over the ansmann hogzilla, Ansmann is not a very good brand as yet mate they are getting their but still have get much better, also the sparts and upgrades would not be that easy to get..
How about buying a HPI savage, its a great truck, many guys will say the same
Or even the new hpi trophy 4.6 truggy.
http://www.modelsport.co.uk/?CallFunction=...tegoryID=991010Or if you really want something special, buy a TRAXXAS model B)
for £319 you could get one one the best bashing moster trucks on the market  TRAXXAS T-MAXX
http://www.modelsport.co.uk/?CallFunction=...on&ItemID=30109The T-MAXX gets my vote all day long B)

deffo would not go for the ansman, nor the thunder tiger. Go for a Traxxas, Hpi Hobao/hong nor etc :cruising:
Rossy - December 28, 2009 07:03 PM (GMT)
Yeah go for a traxxas i had two thunder tigers and what pieces of poo they were.
Traxxas t-maxx for £349 you would NOT need anything else extra to make it go everything is in with the combo package batteries, fuel the lot.
And if you think traxxas are slightly more pricer than say annsmann or anything think your getting traxxas quality with easily available spares and traxxas's ezy-start (EZ-Start push button electric starting) So no need to be messing with the pull starts.
Nitroazza - December 28, 2009 07:15 PM (GMT)
ahh yeah man, traxxas all the way, cant get any better than traxxas in the rc world (my opinion and opinions of loats of others)
great cas, strong, fast and really sex looking, and yeah like rossy said, no messing with pull starts. ez-start system is awesome.
100% traxxas dude
im dying for a traxxas
:D

yeh very nice
wouldnt be as strong as a t-maxx though and spares and upgrades would not be so readily available..
cocobware - December 28, 2009 09:08 PM (GMT)
thanks for the help guys was really looking at a 1/8 scale but am now sold on the traxxas t-maxx 3.3 but whats the differance between that and the revo 3.3 and is the reverse gear option worth adding to the t-maxx its not a MUST have but i would like it .
thanks
Rossy - December 28, 2009 09:40 PM (GMT)
Yeah first of all marc the losi wouldn't be as good for parts or upgrades but dam im now in love with it i may have one, one day it would be splendifull.
Secondly yeah a few differences between jato and t-maxx
Jato is 2wd, rear so good for fun but not good for power in a stright line if you can every make it go in a straight line.
T-mazz 4wd very good for going through mud and snow and allso acelerates in a stright line
Fun factor based upon FUN  In my opinion
Jato 9/10
T-maxx 7/10
Fun fator based upon racing your mates in my opinion
Jato 5/10
T-maxx 7/10
Skill level required to operate a Jato on traxxas's website is higher than operating a T-maxx so depends if your after fun or racing your mates?
All in all this is a useless piece of advice but i am telling you that jato's are 2wd and t-maxx is 4wd

if u like the ansmann hogzila get it
It is rilly not a bad car I have seen it runing and it runes well and did not break
I don't see why every one is not likeing ansmann what they have done over the last 4-5months is great they are now starting to come over with cars that hold up
But you do have to rember that at the mowment ansmma is not a "racing" rc brand they are a "getting into" rc brand
Like I sed if u like the ansmann higzilla just get it!

lol rossy he asked about the revo and t-maxx mate not the jato
how can you give a jato 5 out of 10? for fun racing, thats a bit mad mate, easy should be 8 or 9 out of 10
t-maxx gets a 9 for fun as well, would get a 10 if the shocks come alloy as stock.
not traxxas model is below 8 out of 10 for any reason
cocobware, the revo and t-maxx could easy have been class as a 1/8 if that helps, their big mate B)
The traxxas revo and t-maxx come with reverse as stock out of the box
reverse on my traxxas's is something i would not want to live without B)
their are quite a ferw differences between the t-maxx and revo, but ill keep it simple.
The revo from stock out the box, is a little stronger then the t-maxx, the chassis layout is completey different, (different parts and more compact and stuff) the revo will also corner a little better then a t-maxx.
The t-maxx is easier to work on and likes off-roading a little more then the revo as its a little higher, its better looking and is nearly £100 cheaper.
We have the t-maxx's, revo's, jato, slash, stampede's, so if you want any more advice or help about them let me know
Rossy - December 29, 2009 05:00 PM (GMT)
Yeah i have to ass that the t-maxx is very easy to work on except the bloody gear box which is giving me a pain in the ass at the moment. I can get it to shift up but not down argh. Try again when it stops raining if it ever will.
ianski68 - December 29, 2009 06:29 PM (GMT)
