Title: misbehaving wheelnut
georgeatos - January 2, 2010 04:36 PM (GMT)
hey guys past 3 times ive taken my nephew out with his (hpi mt2) the same wheel comes off after around 10 mins bashing
ive tightend it right up when this happens and it continues to do the same thing
none off the other wheels come loose at all
we now find ourselves having to have a litle pitstop every 5 minutes
if anyone could shed some light on what the problem may be id be thankfull :)

wheel nuts come with a little blue band inside, this keeps the wheel nut locked. maybe this has worn off, as they do after a while.
best bet is to try loctite thread lock, excellent stuff to use. keeps bolts and nuts tight, but can be removed easily if wanted, its not permanently locked forever,
i did this with my riot nitro before i used it, went around the whole chassis, removed the nuts and added thread lock.
no bolts have come loose yet.

If there isn't a problem with the nylon part of the nylock wheel nut, then check the hex on that wheel: I've seen a few times that the drive pin from a hex is either broken or missing which lets the hex slip a bit and helps the wheel self loosen.
Cheers,
Chris.

yeh defo, lovely rustler B)
is it the drive wheel that the nut keeps coming off? this happends on my brushless stampede quite a lot, i would say its most likely down to the plastic band in the nut as well, or the thread itself
let us know how you get on mate..
