Title: Cheap RC car ?
i_am_me - February 8, 2010 07:44 PM (GMT)
Hi everyone,
I am new here and to the hobby, and I need to get myself a car. I would like to get an electric off-road car but I only have a very small budget of £100 at the very most but probably more like £50. I don't mind what scale it is but I do like the idea of a smaller scale car. What do you guys think would be the best car I could get ? Is there even anything ??
Thanks, Ben M

Hi, thanks for the insanely fast reply ! I've seen the desert truck before but sadly it's almost twice the price. Do you think the extra is worth it though ?
Thanks. Ben

your welcome mate, and feel free to introduce yourself in the newbie genral part of the forum
http://rc-racing.org.uk/index.php?showforum=12Yeh mate i would say the Losi Mini Desert Truck is defo worth, £99 but your not find anything really that will match that price and quailty for a new model..

Cheers for the advice ! I'm definitely considering that desert truck but I'm not entirely sure yet :P

Thats a good thing mate dont rush in and buy anything, have a good look around and ask what other guys like, the onlything that going to make it a bit harder for you is your price range.
If you really wanted to get a micro model, this highroller is great and £69..
http://modelsport.co.uk/?CallFunction=Manu...D=627&ShowCar=1For the losi mini desert truck, this will make your mind up mate one way or another lol

but ive got to say this, if speed is what your looking for buy that rc10 from ebay, it would be very very fast..
this one here runs on a high volt lipo battery
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNjnG1SmTIM&feature=relatedyou could get yours going nearly or as fast as that

Arghhh that video of the desert truck makes it even more desirable !! I'm going to have to get a paper round or something (I'm 15 by the way) and then when I've got a bit of money I can look in to getting something :P

Hey what about the Maverick Atom, any body know anything about that ??
Marc.. RC Addict! - February 8, 2010 09:29 PM (GMT)
Bug your perants for some money as well
The Maverick Atom, is a pretty good little model and being 4WD is always a bonus, but parts and upgrades for that model would be a harder to find..
The best think for you to do mate is have a good look around like your doing, then type the model name into youtube, you would then get to see the model in action, that will help make your decision..
I could be wrong about the parts and upgrades being hard to find, but if i am im sure someone will correct me :)

Nice one, I'd be very keen to hear what you think of it. I've been quite tempted by a 1:18 truck like the Losi DT or RC18T, does anybody know if the RC18T comes in kit form or are they all RTR?
If kit available, would you use same receiver/servo/esc as you'd use in a 1:10 car, or is there specific radio gear i.e. smaller for 1:18?

Hi, I'll upload a few pics and videos tomorrow (if I remember), I'll put it in the micro rc section for you.

Class cheers mate, looking forward to seeing it B)
BB, no mate your not find the rc18 in a kit, but and easy way would be, just take it apart as soon as you get it
with the rc18t, it will use a smaller servo then the 1/10 models and a 380 size motor, you can put a 1/10 esc and receiver in the rc18t as long they fit, but you can buy mini receivers and esc as well now, as well as 1/18 sized ones..
