Me personaly i would not have one. firstly i would say go 1/8 scale. you will regret it otherwise at some point. secondly they are not great with regards to quality and parts can be a hard to source at times. what is your Budget? then we can help. when looking at your budget calculate other items you will need such as fuel and starter kit etc etc

My budget is about £150.

Please dont buy a nitrocrap rc model they are rubbish i have seen so many broken ones.

If you want a cheapish nitro rc have look on ebay for a secoond hand one something like a hyper 7 buggy or hpi trophy

Take these guys advice. I did and went for hyper 7's. Great kits reliable and tough and parts are easy to get. If you buy a bad nitro it will put you off.

This is true i have seen loads of people buy a 1/10th scale model and when they see a 1/8th scale they are like

It all depends on what your looking for but if you think bigger is better than 1/8th scale is loads better some 1/8th scale models can be just under £200 so its how much your willing to spend again.

@nuttysquirrel-not sure if your still looking mate but try this.......

You'll have a bit more support if you get it from a shop...........

Tony20VTurbo - February 25, 2010 11:07 PM (GMT)
Main reason I bought mine from a shop is the support and customer after care route (learnt this through modifying my Seat Leon Cupra)

hyper 7's are getting quite old now (apparently 6 years from reading up on them)

good starter motor I guess....depends what level you want to take it too

if its just for bashing, then the hyper 7 will do fine, but if you will be wanting to do upgrades etc, the Caster racing has that oppurtunity

If you thinking of racing then you possibly need to re-think budget to compete with the big boys. I was recently chatting to a guy who races and the engine he has is in the region of £350.
If you just want to bash about the hyper 7's are great, and yes they are an old buggy now, but i have never had any issue's with obtaining parts. Also there are plenty of upgrades if you want to go that route later.
