Title: 2WD??

Scorpio - August 27, 2010 12:29 PM (GMT)
having 1:1 scale off roaded for many years, i am pretty much sure you need a 4wd car. however, in the world of RC This means an extra £150 compared to a 2wd model.
is the performance going to be very different between a 2wd traxxas jato and a 4wd traxxas revo?

For off roading, i would 100% recommend a 4WD car!

As for the models, i would also 100% recommend the revo! these are amazing models!

what are you planning on doing (racing/Bashing etc etc) and what type of vehicle are you looking for (Buggy/Truggy/Truck)

this will help with making a good choice.

A buggy is a good all rounder, great for off road and slap a set of slicks on and adjust the suspension and you can run it on Tarmac.

Yeh mate, i do think 4wd is a bit better then 4wd, but saying better, its down to the user and what your using the model for, so instead of me saying 4wd is better it might be better if i say, there are different..

But 4wd is better for off-roading for this reason, 4wd models go better off-road because with 4wd you have the front wheels pulling you and the rear wheels pushing you, so driving a cross rough ground would be easier then a 2wd model, also most 4wd models tend to corner better the 2wd, with 2wd models the back end tends to spin round a lot, but this is fun and not a bad thing.

I have 4wd models and 2wd models and i love them both for different reasons.

We have a lot of traxxas models a traxxas 2.5 jato and 2.5 revo are some of them, for all-round bashing the revo wins hands down, but for the thrill of speed and the jato wins easy, a revo is bigger and stronger then a jato and the revo will be better for hard bashing and big off-roading and jumping ect. The jato is much faster then the revo and is best for road racing and dirt tracks, even though its only 2wd though it does go well off-road. The jato is also a lot more easier to work on and and repair.

All in all i would say out of these 2, get the revo, this way your have the best of all worlds, the revo will do everything you want it to.

Hope this helps a bit mate

hmmm...
revo or t-maxx???

Marc.. RC Addict! - August 28, 2010 07:55 PM (GMT)
 Oh no not this question..

We have both, and love them both mate.
Both are good hard bashers, and with a few upgrades can be made even stronger.

To keep it short and sweet.
A revo does corner better then a t-maxx and a stock revo is a bit stronger then a stock t-maxx. (the stock bulkheads will break on a 20ft+ jump)

A t-maxx is much easier to work on then a revo because of the tight layout a revo has.

(My opinion) the t-maxx is much better looking, and inside and out looks like how a monster truck should look.

Take your pick on what you like best mate really, they both are good trucks.

I'm with mark on this one, it is a very VERY hard question to answer.

If i HAD! to choose one, i would probably go with the revo! I like the compact feel because i like knowing that everything is together, and no wasted space!

However, i think the t-maxx is deffinatly better looking as a monster truck.

But ha! i think alot of bulk heads would break after a 20ft jump if landed wrongly! But BLOODY HELL! where did you find a 20ft jump? lol.

Marc.. RC Addict! - August 28, 2010 08:10 PM (GMT)
 i think the stock revo could handle that if landed correctly lol.

When i killed my t-maxx on that 20ft jump it wasnt even really a jump, but a side slope thing on a track (cant remember to true term) but i thought hmm if i fly up the back of it behind the track it becomes a huge jump lol. it broke my t-maxx but i didnt land on its wheels so that didnt help. lol oh but it was well worth doing, if i landed on the wheels it could have been a different matter.

Sprakie2008 - August 28, 2010 08:31 PM (GMT)
hahaha! Well, whats the point in having a monster like that if your not gonna take risks ey?

Bet it went in slow motion watching your baby fall to earth knowing that it wasn't gonna land on its wheels? haha! Lucky it didn't do any more damage!
My mate jumped his e-revo, and landed ontop of a sign that shows you the course (for some reason, even though your stood about 1 ft away from the thing anyway!) Snapped this thing in 2, smashed his servo, esc fell in a puddle and his engine just kept going till it blew itself up. While me and my mate was stood laughing, he was practically in tears! :P

So they're not necaserally stronger! :-P

 well said mate

Another thing a revo, having lower ground clearance and handles that bit better, makes it pretty good on a track as well. :)

Come on though lol T-MAXX is better looking

Scorpio, have you decided yet mate?

Scorpio - September 1, 2010 07:42 PM (GMT)
when i get round to it i will get the t-maxx because its cheaper and looks better :D
for now though i have my cheap one to run till it dies.

Marc.. RC Addict! - September 1, 2010 07:58 PM (GMT)
