admo - September 1, 2010 10:33 AM (GMT)
hi im new to the formum and i got an acme condor(not the pro) and i got it off ebay and the seller uprated the engine to a hpi .15. How do you clean and maintain a nitro car properly?

The best way is to use something like Carb cleanner or Brake cleanner. spray it on and lit it dry , then brush of with a brush, use rags to wipe and thats it
if you want to get serious then you could pull it apart or do what i do remove the radioe tray and bat box so there are no electricts on the chassis and stick it in the bath. Brush , washing up liquid and some warm water. dry and wipe over with some wd40 to give it a shine...lol :D

Orrrr, you can buy an air compressor or even use some of that compressed air in a can :P I just use my air compressor unless i want to give it a perfect clean then i just take it apart and use wipes/compressor/denatured alcohol :D

Hi admo, welcome to the site

Theres loads of ways to properly chean and maintain nitro or any rc cars. the guys gave you a few good tips there and heres some more. :)
Oh and if you use ians tip of putting the chassis in the bash to clean it, remove the wheels as well, its better for them if they dont get too wet..

Ok the first and one of the most important things you need to get, if you dont have then already is some after-run oil and air filter oil.

If your not sure how to use them, let us know.

Now another way to clean your nitro models is by using some RC cleaning spray, you get get a few types so, heres a few.

Fastrax Nitro Power Blast Degreasing Cleaner:

HPI 9062 Nitro Car Cleaner 500ml

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HPI-9062-Nitro-Car-C...ioControlled_JN

With stuff like this, it is much better for cleaning your models with then say using something like WD40 as WD40 would leave a grease or oil residue behind.

The cleaning spray i use is called nitro force cleaner, It works very well, it will clean anything off the model on any part, and dries itself and leave leaves a shine, (with no oil) but i cant find it online no more, so i will get the HPI 9062 cleaner next time.

Oh and good old baby wipes always work well. lol.

Hope this helps, need any more tips or advice, or just want to chat RC, you know where we are mate.

HAPPY RC-ING :rc_car:

 good old baby wipes, one of the best inventions ever lol..

Yeh mate i would say, that RC cleaning spray would make stickers start to peel, depending on the stickers, cheap or even most stock decal sheet/sets would start to peel, but vinyl or most good custom made stickers should be ok. But i must admit i only use this stuff on the chassis, engine, wheels and parts etc, baby wipes clean my shells..

Haha! Baby wipes made england what it is today! :D Too far maybe? :P :joker:

But ahhh right yeah! I suppose this is true, i tend to spray my body with the compressor first, it loosens up the dirt and gets rid of the dust so i don't have to use as many baby wipes :-P

but this is a very good point! Thanks alot Marc! :-)
